And We’re Back… With a Pinterest Challenge!

27 Jul

Hello Blog readers (all 4 of you)!  I apologize for my lengthly absence around these parts… lots of things got in the way of blogging: my day job (which sometimes turns into a night job, too), visiting family & friends, house organizing, cleaning, laundry, gardening and, well, I guess just Life.  And, I can admit, there are a lot of unfinished projects around here and I wasn’t feeling like blogging about any of them!

BUT, today that all changed when I checked in at one of my favorite house blogs: Young House Love (YHL for short) and heard about the awesome, fantastic, amazing Pinterest Challenge!  Sherry from YHL and Katie at Bower Power are teaming up with Emily Henderson from HGTV and Lana from Make a House a Home and issuing a challenge to all of us pin-addicts:  actually complete a project based on something we’ve seen and pinned at Pinterest.  And do it by next Tuesday morning.  Behold:

What’s Pinterest, you ask?  Only the best thing since Al Gore invented the internets!!!!  Essentially, Pinterest is an online bulletin board where you can collect and “pin” different ideas, photos, recipes, tutorials and the like to virtual bulletin boards.  It’s fan-freaking-tastic.  Feel free to check out my boards: here.  L likes to joke that he secretly monitors my boards so he knows the harebrained amazing projects in his future.  ;)

The Pinterest Challenge has reinvigorated my blogging energy and gotten me excited about completing a couple of the simple projects I keep gazing at on my “I Can Make This” board.  So… will I tackle this?

Or maybe this? Or finally use up all those wine corks I’ve been saving and make this?

Only time will tell!  Check back next Tuesday for the big reveal.  And in the meantime, get inspired by Pinterest!

Lazy Day at Love Lake

Sorry for the break in blog posts… My day-job kept me pretty busy this week. I am fortunate enough to be spending this weekend at a good friend’s family cabin. Love Lake (it’s real name!) is in NW Wisconsin, near Siren. It’s super peaceful & always has me dreaming about L & I owning our own lake cabin one day.

This time, I’m looking at the cabin decor & furnishings in an entirely new way… I credit Sarah Richardson & HGTV’s “Sarah’s Summer House” for this. I’m suddenly loving white washed pine paneling, soft blue & green nature-inspired fabrics & cane furniture.

I’m loving this cabin vibe so much, I might even let L hang his singing fish, a la this guy:

Unfortunately, it will probably be several years before our dream of a cabin can be fulfilled. In the meantime, I’ll keep dreaming:

I’m Live!

5 Jun

Hello Blogosphere!  I’m Sarah from Sweet Home Minneapolis and am so excited to be here.  I’ve been a stalker lurker of many a blog over the past few years and have long wanted to join in on the fun.  So, now I am.  I’m an avid home DIY-er, and usually drag my “willing” and wonderful boyfriend along for the ride — I’ll call him “L” around here.

I’m off to start adding some substance to all my draft posts – thanks for stopping by & I hope to see you again soon!
